Sights of the season
Tens of thousands of people enjoyed what might have been the largest Palms West Chamber of Commerce Holiday Parade on Sunday, Dec.2, along Forest Hill Blvd. in Wellington. Mallory Osinga, 7, of Loxahatchee (top right at left) and Ashley Perez, 8, of Palm Beach Gardens interact with the participants, who trekked the two-hour, two-mile route from the Wellington Mall to the Community Center in 80-degree-plus temperatures and only a hint of rain. Among the music makers were members of the Royal Palm Beach High School Marching Wildcats, who played "Jingle Bells" in garb customized for the holiday season. Chamber officials said the project was extremely difficult this year, thanks to 9-11. The month of September as a wash-out as far as organization and sponsor recruitment was concerned because of the terrorism, and the insurance premium for the parade rose by 300 percent.
