Troy Homecoming 2007
Friday, Oct. 19 to Sunday, Oct. 21

Brothers,

As we get closer to homecoming, we are trying to get a count of those planning on eating with the group for catering purposes. I’m personally happy that we can all be together rather than waiting in line at the local restaurants. Finally we can all be together at the same place for the meals. At the Summer Jam, we had the event catered and the food was great.

Here’s how you can help. We’re asking that you reply back by Oct. 12th to let us know how many will be in your party for the meals. We are asking that each of us chip in for the meal per head per function as follows:

Cocktail party Friday night, Oct. 19, at Doug Kitchens' house is $7.50 a head

Tailgate party at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, is $7.50 a head

Homecoming Dinner Saturday night, Oct. 20, at the fraternity house is $7.50 a head

Although you can pay at the time of the meal, it would be helpful to send a check ahead of time. You can make checks payable to Lambda Chi Alpha Alumni Association

Also, if you want to order a Homecoming T-shirt with the old Lambda Chi house imprinted, you need to place your order with Woody by Oct. 5. Price is $15 each. Specify size.

If anyone is still without hotel rooms, please let us know, we are still looking for places.

Please send all checks for homecoming meals and shirts to:

Lambda Chi Alumni Association
C/O Woods Culpepper
22 South California Street
Montgomery, AL 36107

'Looking forward to seeing all of you at homecoming.

Yours in ZAX,

Jeff Annis
Sigma Tau 55
President Lambda Chi Alumni Association

There is lots to do on Homecoming weekend, beginning Thursday night. Please see the event listings below.

Friday, Oct. 19
12:30 p.m. - Golf outing open to all at Troy Country Club. See details below.

7 to 9 p.m. - Cocktail party at Doug Kitchens' home in Troy from 7 to 9 p.m., then back to the house at 10 p.m. to hang out and socialize.

Saturday, Oct. 20
10 a.m. - Coffee reception at the house. This is a chance for brothers and friends of the fraternity to come by before
the game and visit and see the house.

All the associates and active brothers parents are being invited for all activities. Also, parents of brothers who have passed away, former Lambda Chi Alpha little sisters, advisors and house moms will be invited to be a part of this celebration.

11:30 a.m. - Tailgating under the fraternity tent on the Pace Quad. This will be a BBQ.

2 p.m. - Football game then the game vs. North Texas. Efforts will be made to secure a block of seats in Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium. If you are interested in buying seats in a block, please e-mail Bob Markey at BMarkey@PalmsWestPress.com.

6 p.m. - After the game, the time will be set for all to return to the house for dinner. We need you to be apart of this - a show of unity for the chapter. We will have a meeting for a few minutes to answer questions and also show the plans for the new living accommodations.

Tickets

We suggest visitors purchase general admission tickets or seats on the lower level of the east side and sit near the middle of the section. That section is near the studemnt section and has, perhaps the best fans and game experience. Oftentimes, general admission ticket holders can slip in there. Last year, the ushers did not actively ask to see tickets.

Call A Brother and Get Him To Attend

With the successful start-up of the Sigma Tau Zeta Alumni Association, renovations to the house and 30-member associate class, this is expected to be a large Homecoming with many alumni attending for the first time, or first time in a long while. Please consider dropping and e-mail to a few brothers who might not be on this list or who have fallen out of touch with us, or perhaps give them a call and ask them to join us - especially those in close-by Alabama, Georgia and Florida. You Montgomery, Birmingham, Dothan and Panhandle people know who you are. If they haven't been back in a while, they will not regret their choice to attend.

Hotel Rooms!

We are trying to find motel rooms for everyone who wants to come to Troy, but availability is slim. There is a chance a new Best Western motel will be open for Homecoming. if that happens, we will attempt to secure rooms for everyone who does not already have them.

If you need a room, please contact me Bob Markey, Sigma Tau 164, at BMarkey@PalmsWestPress.com.

If you have decided not to come to Troy but have a hotel reservation, please call Bob at 561-793-8596. We will arrange to have your reservation transferred into the name of a brother or alumnus who needs it.

Troy Motel Information

It is possible that the Hampton Inn and perhaps other Troy motels might have vacancies for this (Homecoming) weekend for those who call the motels directly. Their Web sites list the motels as booked, but apparently some of the motels, including the Hampton, might have some rooms.

Hampton Inn - 103 Troy Plaza Loop, on U.S. 231 at George Wallace Drive in the Troy Plaza, closest hotel to Troy University and the nicest and newest hotel in Troy. Phone: 334-807-5900

Comfort Inn - Used to be the newest, at 811 Highway 231. Free continental breakfast. Phone: 334-566-7799

Days Inn - 1260 Highway 231. Try to get a room in the new annex, not the older buildings. Phone: 334-566-1630

Holiday Inn - Old but nice with nice pool area, on U.S. 231 in north Troy. Great free buffet breakfast and decent local bar. Phone: 334-566-1150

Holiday Inn Express - Relatively new and nice, on U.S 231 in north Troy. Might also feature the free buffet breakfast at Holiday Inn next door. Phone: 334-670-0012

Scottish Inns - Highway 231 in north-central Troy. Kind of old, behind a popular local bar called the Double Branch. Book at this place pretty much as your last resort. Phone: 334-566-4090.

Motel 8 - 1013 Highway in Central Troy, near the university. Relatively new, decent and clean. Phone: 231 334-566-4960.

Golf Outing, Lunch Friday, Oct. 19

Anyone interested in playing golf on Friday, Oct. 19, must contact Doug Kitchens via e-mail at dkitchens@wsanders.com.
Details are as follows:
• Lunch at Troy Country Club at 11:30
• Cost is approximately $7 plus tip.
On Fridays, they serve a salad bar buffet OR Catfish plates
• Golf tee time hopefully no later than 12:30 p.m.
• Estimated cost for Golf is $30.00 (includes cart)
Depending on the number of participants, we can either play our own score or group up and play a scramble.
It is important that Doug Kitchens know as soon as possible approximately how many golfers will be participating. The Delta Chi
Fraternity always have a fairly large group as well so Doug must coordinate with their club pro on this.

Friday Night Party at Doug Kitchens' House

The second annual alumni and brother cocktail party will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at Doug's house in Troy. Last year's event was a huge success, thanks to Doug and his wife Christa's hospitality, beautiful amenities, etc. It was a favorite of wives, girlfriends and family members.

The directions are as follows:

124 N. Hunter Lane
Troy, AL 36079
Phone: 334-566-4855

From the intersection on Highway 231 where Jabs Sporting Goods is located (also there is a KFC on one corner and a Kangaroo convenience store on the other corner) and assuming you are headed from the university north on highway 231, take a left on Henderson Highway. You will pass Cheers Lounge and go past several industries as this is Industrial Blvd. After going down Henderson Highway for about 2 miles, turn left into the subdivision of Town & Country Estates (Taylor Drive). After turning into Town & Country Estates, take the first left (North Hunter Lane.) and follow that street around the neighborhood to the back of that section. You will see Doug's house on the left just before the end of N. Hunter Lane.

They will cook burgers and the like, serve soft drinks, etc. at the house - a beautiful place on a nice hill complete with pool, large deck and fire pit. Bring your tunes, guitars, etc. Everyone is invited and is encouraged to bring beer and anything harder. We'll probably pass around a hat to repay Christa and Doug for their hospitality. Doug said Christa is looking forward to meeting his friends from college.

Please RSVP your attendance to Doug at dkitchens@wsanders.com.

Alumni Association Meeting

An alumni association meeting will likely be at 10 a.m. or so Saturday morning. PLEASE try to attend. E-mail me ( BMarkey@PalmsWestPress.com ) or call my cell phone for meeting time or any other details: 561-635-0056.

Parade and Tailgating Saturday, Before the Game

Troy University's annual Homecoming Parade will take to the streets of downtown Troy at 10 a.m.

The parade will begin at the corner of Montgomery and North Three Notch streets, continue to downtown through the Square to Elm Street and finish in front of the Old Recreational Department, according to Jennifer Barner of the Pike County Chamber of Commerce.

Tailgate Party

The fraternity will sponsor a tailgate party beginning around 11 a.m. Saturday at the Pace Quad. Food will be provided, but feel free to bring your own munchies, as well as drinks and mixers. Alcohol is allowed at the tailgate parties - which in the past has featured live bands and a stage, as well as performances by the Sound of the South and cheerleaders - but drinkers are encouraged to use cups for beer.

The game (vs. SunBelt top dog Louisiana Lafayette) begins at 3 p.m., but the Homecoming courts will be introduced at 2:30 p.m. Don't miss the Sound of the South's pre-game show. It is excellent.

Trojan Walk Supports Team

Troy now has a Trojan Walk - starting at 12:45 p.m. from Trojan Arena to the stadium along University Avenue. The team, band and mascot walk through the fans and get encouragement for the big game. It's worth your time to peel away and be a part of that tradition.

Try to be at the stadium by around 2:15 to 2:30.
